In the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a large, white, baluster-shaped vased decorated with Kakiemon-style flowers and birds in polychrome and gilt, and an iron-red meander pattern on the neck. This splendid covered vase (German, ca. 1725-30), almost two feet high, was made at the Meissen factory, the first European manufactory of hard-paste porcelain. Kakiemon is the name given to a distinctive class of Japanese porcelains, which were widely imitated by eighteenth-century European manufacturers. This pen is adapted from the vibrant decorations on the original vase. Proceeds from the sale of all Metropolitan Museum of Art products are used to support the Museum.

As a certified retailer for Metropolitan Museum of Art® I am able to only list their products at their recommended MSRP or allowed discount. Other certified retailers of this manufacturer are given the exact same guidelines. Should you see prices under the MSRP, I would caution you as to whether or not you are receiving an item from a certified retailer of this manufacturer. Purchasing items from non-certified retailers may invalidated your guarantee. However, only the manufacturer can address that issue with certainly. Remember buying below MSRP or our authorized discount price may not actually represent a "savings".
We sell only new products.
