Monthly Newsletter-Pen Tip:
- Take it easy when writing, as a good fountain pen should write easily on
the paper.
- Make sure your ink supply is fresh. Shouldn't be older than two years.
- Remember to shake your ink bottle periodically to decrease sediment. That
cap cover better be on tight first or you'll be showing off the ink-of-your
choice all over you!
- Ink is best stored away from direct sunlight.
- Your pen should be cleaned in cool water, preferably distilled water [tap
water may have too many impurities] before you change ink colors.
- If your pen is going to be stored for a while, wash and empty it before
storing it away.
- Keeping the "nib up" is the better way to store your fountain pen. I like
to use an old favorite coffee cup to hold my "collection".
- Even if you use your pen and use the same ink color in that pen, your pen
still does need periodic cleaning. Once every two months is not too frequent.
Clean the nib with a soft cloth so as not to damage the nib that is susceptible
to injury.
